Tips on how to create charming and functional baby boy nursery

Decorating a nursery for a new baby in your family is an incredibly exciting time. Although, the only problem comes when you need to think about the nursery sets and baby furniture that you are going to have.

For boys, it can be tricky to find a colour scheme or theme that is going to work for them. Particularly if you are not sure whether or not they will be a wannabe footballer or perhaps a firefighting hero! To help you, we have put together some of our ideas for nursery décor that is perfect for boys!

A grey nursery doesn’t have to be boring

When you think a grey nursery interior, then chances are that you are going to worry that it will look a little grey or boring. However, this really isn’t the case. Grey can be a great colour for a nursery, not only is it a neutral colour, but it also forms the ideal base for you to add things into as your boy gets older. That way, you can find out what he likes and then use accessories or even wall art in order to  bring the space to life.

Go wild with a jungle theme

You will be hard pressed to find a little one, boy or girl, who is not a huge fan of animals. This means that it makes sense to opt for an animal theme for a nursery. One that works really well is a jungle scheme. Remember, this doesn’t mean that you need to paint the entire room as a jungle scene, instead you can use a neutral base colour, such as cream or white, and add touches to it. This could come in the form of a mural wall, some wall stickers or perhaps just some rather bright and colourful bedding.

Get them ready for sleep with a starry night

Who doesn’t love the idea of being able to snuggle up under the stars? Even little ones can be soothed and get ready for sleep with a little help from a night’s sky. Which means that having a starry night effect in your son’s nursery is going to be a great idea. Not only does it look beautiful, but it also can have a real soothing effect too. We love the idea of either creating a feature wall that is painted up like a night’s sky, or perhaps choosing to do the ceiling in that design instead. With some glow in the dark stars, and maybe a planet or two, this is a nursery idea that they are sure to love for some years to come.

These are just some of the ideas that you can choose from when it comes to decorating your son’s nursery. The thing to remember is, think about how the space can grow with them over the years to come, not just what they will like when they are babies. That way, you won’t find yourself having to completely redecorate on a more regular basis then you would like.
